I have been investing for a while but honestly Rocket League, a car soccer game, is where I first got exposed. The trading and player interaction I had to do to build my cosmetic inventory from $10 to around $750 worth of items not only brought me a lot of joy, but it also built discipline, patience, and a long term mindset that carries directly into real world investing. While trading eventually got removed from the game, the memories and experiences it brought to my life will forever be instilled in me.
By 13 I had a real brokerage account. Birthday money, referee payments from soccer games I was officiating, cash from mowing lawns. Not a ton of capital but enough to start making real decisions and feeling the weight of them.
Now I’m a junior at Waubonsie Valley High School. I handle finance for my family’s business, run a financial literacy club at school, and write this blog. Each post is just a stock that moved, the numbers behind it, and my honest take. I’m 17 so factor that in however you want.
